New Year - Same God

The new year has always seemed to represent

renewal and that's where that saying "New Year, New Me" comes from. That saying doesn't have to be corny, but it can actually mean something if you connect it to something more powerful.

Yesterday I was reading my devotional (It's called "365 Devotions to Embrace What Matters Most" by John Michalak. I'll link it at the bottom of this post :) and it was talking about how we are always changing. I'm going to show exactly what it said...

Who are you becoming?

Did you know that you are always changing?

Your body's molecules constantly renew themselves. The rate of change is much higher the younger you are and slows down as you grow older, but your body is always working on becoming something entirely different than it was before.

That adds a new layer to your identity. Not just who you are, but who you are becoming.

....

Who you are becoming matters because you're meant for more.

I sat there after I read that and just thought about it. I really tried to work out what it was saying...and here's what I came up with.

  • Not only are you changing mentally, but physically.

  • That constant change is what proves that you are not stuck. You are free to better yourself.

  • People do change, and it is possible.

  • Don't wait to better yourself.

  • The younger you are the faster it is to 'fix' things. If you wait, it'll be harder.

  • Think: if you waited 30 years until you tried to kick that bad habit, you're more apt to fall back into routine.

  • Change feels good, once you start the process...amazing things will happen.

  • You are not 'YOU'...you are becoming you.

  • The process of life is to change, mature, and become the person God is creating you to be.

  • Don't limit yourself just because you think that this is all you have. Push your limit and dream big.

  • God has BIG plans for every single person, it's up to you to take action.

Now while I tried to tear apart this lil' bit of knowledge apart, it lead me to another thought.

New Year - Same God

It's totally okay to try to better yourself, but turn to God. Lay everything in God's hands, and I promise He won't let you down. God has always been the same, He loves all of His children and wants them to be their best selves. (And that means having a relationship with God.)

I will admit, I let my relationship with God take a place on the back burner from time to time the past couple years. I don't want that for this year, or for any year. I can see the difference in how I hold myself and how much more motivation I have to spend time bettering myself. I'm making it my goal to bless as many people as I can, which is why I started this blog. (I'm also trying to gain more of a following on my other social media, so feel free to check them out in the top right corner or on my contact page!)

God isn't the only person that wants you to be the best you, I want you to be the best version of yourself.

Take time to pray, buy a devotional, spend time in the word, go to church, talk to someone about Jesus, smile, listen to good and positive music, dance, have some me time, write in a journal, draw, play an instrument, etc etc etc.

The possibilities are endless, just take that first step and ask God for his guidance. You can't do this on your own, remember it is God's plan...and you're a part of it. Now it's a New Year, create a 'New You' with the Same God.

With Love,

Hailey Case
